PERKINSTON, Miss. — For the ninth straight year, the Mississippi Gulf Coast will be home to one of the premier bowl games in the NJCAA.
The ninth Mississippi Bowl will be played this year at A.L. May Memorial Stadium in Perkinston on Dec. 4. The game pits the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges champion against another highly ranked team from across the country.
“Anticipation for the Mississippi Bowl grows all football season,” said Robin Jeffries, Mississippi Bowl committee chair. “We anxiously await this weekend’s results and look forward to putting together another exciting matchup.”
The state champion will be determined Saturday in Scooba, when No. 3 East Mississippi (9-1) takes on No. 4 Northwest (9-1). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
East Mississippi has played in three previous Mississippi Bowls, while Northwest is looking to return to the game for the second straight year after having won the national championship by beating Rochester 66-13.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m., with the game serving as a culmination of three days of food, fun and football.
Bowl invitations can be extended starting at noon Tuesday.
